Coleman received a nomination for Best Actress at the TV Choice Awards. Steven Moffat revealed at a Doctor Who Press Conference on the 21st of March that Coleman was to play Matt Smith as the Doctor's Companion following the departure of Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and other actors have left the show. Moffat selected her because of the ease with which she worked together with Smith, and that she was faster at speaking than Smith.
