In the year 2015, at age 19, she debuted her first single Here. The track received praise from listeners and music critics. The song was ranked in the top 19 on both Billboard Hot 100 in Canada and on the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song among the 2015's Top Songs. The singer released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was among five songs that reached the top charts on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique because it was based on an interview with rapper Rap-Up, many of the listeners related to her journey through self-doubt and discovering how to love herself. Cara is known for incorporating songs about mental health, compassion and self-love in her songs. Her music is an expression of her own personal struggles with mental illness and insomnia. In a Reuters interview, she describes her album as half tumultuous and half perfected. The singer says that she experienced growth during therapy. Alessia Cara, a Canadian musician was born in Canada on the 11th of July 1996 to Italian parents of Italian descent. The guitar was gifted to her from her parents at the time she was 10 years old, which sparked her passion for music. She began to cover the songs she loved at 13 to prove to that world that she could sing and had the determination required to be a singer. Sweater Weather is one of the covers that resulted in her being noticed to be signed by EP Entertainment. This record label gave her the opportunity to create the songs she wrote herself.
