Dua Lipa the English artist and singer was born in London on 22 August 1995. She signed her first contract to Warner Bros Records in 2014 following her work as a model. The label released her self-titled debut album in the year 2017. The album reached the top 3 spot in the U.K. Charts and produced 8 singles. The album also included Be the one I.D.G.A.F The U.K. Number One single New Rules as well as the U.K. No. 1 single New Rules. Lipa has been awarded The Brit Awards in 2018 for British Female Solo Artist as well as British Breakthrough Act. The album has been certified as platinum across several countries around the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her parents are of Bosnian origin through her maternal grandmother. She can trace her ancestors back to Peja, which was a city within Kosovo. Both of her grandparents were historians. Lipa is the younger sister of Rina Lipa and a younger brother named Gjin. Lipa was influenced musically through her father, the guitar player and lead singer of the Kosovan rock band Oda. His father would play music at home and sang songs from David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead The Police Stereophonics. Lipa started singing at the age of five. She began singing in Sylvia Young Theater School. Sylvia Young Theater School when she was just nine years older.
